The funeral for Bertha Bishop was Tuesday at 2 p.m., from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home Chapel. She died Sunday.

Bertha Edith Clark was born to Nathan Samuel and Edith Bennett Clark Feb. 14, 1907, on a farm southeast of Formoso. She attended school at Blue Bird and at the age of 11, she made her home with her sister and brother-in-law, Ella and Harry Patterson, and attended school at Butler, Kan. After attending school in Formoso, she graduated from high school with the class of 1924.

March 2, 1926, she was united in marriage with William Marshall Bishop at the Christian Church parsonage, Mankato, with the Rev. C. Finker officiating. They lived with her husband's parents until July when they moved to Central City. Later they moved to Palmer where a daughter, Mary Frances, was born in 1927. Three more children, William Marshall, jr., (Bill), Freda Nadine and Velma Maxine were born.

They lived in the Olive Hill community for a number of years where she was a member of the Olive Hill Church and was active in the Ladies' Aid, a 4-H leader and participated in many other community activities.

Her husband, Marshall, retired in 1967 and they moved to Burr Oak in 1968 where they lived 11 years. She was a member of the Christian Church and Christian Women's Society.

They moved to Superior Manor and she became a member of the Superior Baptist Church. Her husband, Marshall, died March 11, 1982.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall; parents, three brothers, Elmer, George and Jim Clark; three sisters, Freda Clark, Ella Patterson and Velma Teach; a son-in-law, Lyle McMains; daughter-in-law, Alice May Bishop; and a great grandson, Patrick Wayne Carter.

She is survived by four children, Mary Frances McMains of Lebanon, Ore., Bill Bishop and Mrs. Jim Garman (Freda) of Bladen and Maxine Carter, Shreveport, La.; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; one sister, Nita Dunstan, Courtland; and many other relatives and friends.
