United States Representative. He served as a Lieutenant in the Third Continental Dragoons in the Revolutionary War and was wounded at the Battle of Eutaw Springs in 1782. He later served in the War of 1812 and was elected to the United States Congress from Maryland, where he served from 1811 to 1819.
