Mrs. Romaine Wright Akers died at 8:10 p.m. Friday at her home in Loma. She had been ill for a week. Funeral services will be held at 3:45 p.m. Sunday at the Starks chapel in Fruita, with Rev. Lawrence Onan officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery. Mrs. Akers was born March 3, 1866, in Galesburg, Ill., and had spent most of her childhood at St. Joseph, Mo. She was married Nov. 6, 1902, at Fort Collins to C. C. Akers. Mr. and Mrs. Akers established their farm home in the Loma section 29 years ago. Mr. Akers operated the farm until his death several years ago and Mrs. Akers has made her home with her son-in-law, Carl L. Nichols, and granddaughter, Genevieve Nichols, in Loma, in recent years. Mrs. Akers was a member of the Presbyterian church and the Loma Ladies aid. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Inez Douglas, Loma; one sister, Mrs. Rena Veale, Aurora, Mo.; the son-in-law, Carl Nichols, Loma; eight grandchildren, among whom are Genevieve Nichols, Loma, and Carl Nichols Jr., who is in the navy in the South Pacific, one son, Charles Akers, died in 1929[sic], and one daughter, Mrs. Grace Elizabeth Nichols, died in 1931. Two sisters and one brother also preceded her in death.
