He married 1st, (Mar.29,1838 Crawford Co., IL.) Rebecca Rich, (1813 KY - 1845

IL). [Apparently his 1st or 2nd cousin.] He married. 2nd, (Jul. 15, 1846 Crawford Co., IL), Martha Midget, (b.1825), daughter of George Midget and Mary Gowin.


Some sources say he died Wabash Co., IL 1857, but this seems to be an error. He was in Nemaha Co., KS by 1856, and the last record for him is a purchase of land in said county ca.1865.


Children, by 1st marriage:


Scytha (Rich) Wallace, (1839-1873), [Find a Grave # 27190680 ], buried in Rich Cemetery, Crawford Co., IL. Wife of Cyrus Bruce Wallace.


Mary E Rich, (b.1841), apparently died before 1850. [Some sources say she md.

Joshua T Peck, but this doesn't seem to fit so far.]


Sarah R (Rich) Highsmith Condrey [buried as Highsmith], (1843-1916), [Find a

Grave # 27190697 ], buried Rich Cem., Crawford Co., IL. She md. 1st Nathaniel

Morris Highsmith, (1831-1889), and 2nd Preston Condrey, (b.ca,1825).


by 2nd marriage:


George Pew Rich, (1847-1908), [Find a Grave # 8034268 ], buried Damascus Pioneer Cemetery, Damascus, Clackamas Co., OR. md. Nancy Hickey.


There was also an adopted daughter Mary Elizabeth, (b.1855), whose mother

was half Cherokee.
