Born in Conway, SC, Mrs. Heniford was the daughter of the late Kelly Camak Todd and the late Audrey Horne Todd. Mrs. Heniford was predeceased by her first husband, William D. Williamson. In 1960 she married Davis Heniford with whom she enjoyed a 44 year marriage. Mrs. Heniford was a homemaker and community activist. In addition to being a devoted wife and friend, Mrs. Heniford worked tirelessly for her community and state. She graduated from Loris High School and Coastal Carolina College. She worked in many businesses in Horry County and was the first female hired by Sears Roebuck in Conway, SC, as an outside sales representative. Mrs. Heniford received the Service Award from the American Cancer Society in 1978. She was president of the Loris Merchants and Trade Association in 1980, and received its Outstanding Citizen of the Year Award in 1981; she also received the Conway Area Chamber of Commerce Community Service Award in 1981. Mrs. Heniford served on the Loris Centennial Committee in 1987, served on the board of Crime Stoppers in Horry County, and was Chairperson of the Board of Directors for Horry County 1988-1989. In 1981 Mrs. Heniford was nominated by all of her children and received the 1981 South Carolina Mother of the Year by Governor Dick Riley. Mrs. Heniford was a long-standing member of the Loris Music and Literary club and a board member of the Waccamaw Center for Mental Health. Mrs. Heniford also had a passion for gardening. She served as a life member of the Garden Club of SC, and a life member of the National Garden Club and was 1995 recipient of the Mrs. Wilbur Chandler Garden Club Woman of the Year Award. She was a board member of the SC State Garden Club, a member of the Yaupon Garden Club of North Myrtle Beach, and a member of the Loris Garden Club. In addition Mrs. Heniford was instrumental in the establishment of the Carolina Fence Garden at Daisy Elementary School in Loris.
Survivors include: Four sons: William D. Williamson and wife Ann of Sunset Beach, NC; Mark Eric Heniford and wife Mary Margaret of North Myrtle Beach, SC; Drake Davis Heniford and wife Cindy of Little River, SC; and B. Todd Heniford and wife Briana Wright of Charlotte, NC. Three daughters: Julie Williamson Lowry and husband Brownlee of Spartanburg, SC; Darra Williamson Cothran and husband Robert Gahagan of Columbia, SC; and Holly Kaufmann and husband Scott of Little River, SC. Two sisters: Villon Todd Williamson of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Lorene Todd Weber of New Smyrna Beach, FL. Grandchildren are William Lowry, Jr. and wife Katherine, Kelly Davis Heniford Lowry and wife Rebecca, Casey Althea Cothran and husband Todd Muldrew, Darra Dane Cothran, James C. Page, Audrey Ann Williamson, W. D. Grainger Williamson, Mary Katherine Heniford, Mark Tanner Heniford, Stephanie Vidal Olivera, Cypress Heniford, Kellen Heniford, Davis Wright Heniford and Carley Teal Kaufmann. Great-grandchildren are Cenia Althea Lowry and Claudia Ramos Lowry.
Mrs. Heniford was predeceased by two brothers, Carl and Leraulston Todd. Funeral services will be Wednesday morning at 11:00 AM at Loris First Baptist Church with committal services following at Princeville Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Carl Harris and Rev. Drew Jackson. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Hardwick Funeral Home in Loris, SC.
