George Washington Sheek was the second of nine known children of Johan Adam Schick/Sheek (1761-1832) and Susanna Mohlar/Moulder (1767-1839).
George first married Margaret (went by Peggy) Call (c1795-a1840) on 22 Mar 1809 at Salisbury, Rowan County, North Carolina. George and Peggy were the parents of five known children, namely:
1. Daniel A. Sheek (1812-1870)
2. John Bryant Sheek (1817-1872)
3. Richmond George Sheek (1819-1896)
4. Susanna Sheek Mock Cook (1824-1922)
5. Levin W. Sheek (1829-1893)
There may be additional children who died young. The sons John and Leven (Levin?) both moved to Johnson County, Indiana where both died.
After Peggy died, George remarried to the widow Mary Elizabeth Mock (widow of John Riddle) (???-a1848) and then the widow Elizabeth Pendry Craver (1807-1854) on 18 Nov 1848 at presumably North Carolina, but had no known children by either.
In 1850 George (age 62, born Surry County, North Carolina, a farmer), Elizabeth (age 43, born Caldwell County, North Carolina), Levin (age 22), Joseph Carver (sic)(age 17) and Joshua Carver (sic) (age 10) were living at Davie County, North Carolina.
In 1860 George Sheek (age 72), Elizabeth Hess (age 67), Lemuel Cook (age 35), Susan Sheek Cook (age 35), and five Cook children were living at Farmington, Davie County, North Carolina.
