Paul served as a 2nd Lieutenant and navigator on B-17 "Ramp Rooster" (#42-107188), 602nd Bomber Squadron, 398th Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided at 166 Normandy Avenue, Rochester, Monroe County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on November 6, 1942 in Rochester, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment as being employed with the Rochester Gas & Electric Corporation and also as being Single, without dependents.

He was married after his enlistment.

Shortly before going overseas Paul married Thais Norris who was from Monroe, Louisiana.

Paul was first declared "Missing In Action" over Germany and later as "Killed In Action" during the war when his plane went down in Belgium.

He was the only member of the crew that was KIA ... 5 crew members became POW's and 3 evaded capture and returned to duty.
