He was married twice, first to Sarah Simkins, married 21 October 1811. She passed away sometime between 1820 and 1825 and is probably buried in New Jersey.
They had 8 children together:
Naomi, Elizabeth, Roxanna, Rachel, Amos, Eliza, Joseph, and James.
He then married Mildred "Millie" Champion of NJ (born 1795) and had one child, Elias C. Ackley, born 1826 in New Jersey.
