He and brother Henry B played baseball for a local club: The Tenk Baseball Team(Team history)(Team-photo); and they roomed together, c1919-20, at Ben Stroot's place(1319 College St) during those early times.
Having moved from Quincy, Clem and a cousin, George Stroot shared a residence at 2925 Holmes St, Kansas City c1920-21.
Clem then married Matilda Meisman Nov 22, 1921 at St Francis Church in Kansas City, Mo by Father Keyes;
[that marriage lasting 58 years until Matilda's passing in 1979].
Clem and wife, Matilda then lived in Kansas City from 1921 to 1924, where the first of their offspring, Verona was born in 1922. They shared a duplex at 6606 E.7th St, KC with Matilda's sister, Hilda and her husband, Martin Keane with their baby, Kenneth Keane.
They returned to Quincy in 1924 living at ten different addresses(including a farm at 48th and Harrison, c1941-46); finally settling in their permanent home at 2025 Chestnut St.
Clem was briefly a bartender during a Prohibition raid, c1928-1929.

He was a highly intelligent, technical machinist/operator/designer/fabricator of high tolerance parts at Gardner-Denver Co during his career, retiring in 1963.
He was a good teacher in diverse trade skills, earlier to his offspring and then, in retirement, to his ten grandchildren. He was an ideal father and grandfather.
A devout Catholic he was a member of St Francis Catholic Church; and belonged to the Eagles Club of Quincy...with his favorite games being Pinochle, 500 Rummy; and Cryptograms. He was an avid baseball fan.
A widower the last six years of life, his mind was sharp as a tack to the very end; passing quietly of natural causes in the night two weeks before his 88th birthday; being found the next morning by his daughter, Verona during a visit to his home.
