Antonio Jorge "George" Baca of Hurley entered into rest Sunday at Gila Regional Medical Center. He was born April 23, 1936 in Hurley and had been a lifetime Grant County resident. Mr. Baca was a smelter mechanic at Chino Mines, where he had been employed since 1954. He was a member of Infant Jesus Catholic Church of Hurley. He was a lector and was involved with the choir. Mr. Baca was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Bayard and was a Cursillista. Calling hours are from 3-5 this afternoon in Baca's Funeral Chapels. The prayer vigil will be held tonight at seven at Infant Jesus Catholic Church, where the funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday. The rite of committal and burial will follow in the Hurley Cemetery. The Rev. John Jusseaume will officiate at all services. Survivors include his wife, Mary C. Baca of Hurley; three sons, Joe Baca and his wife, Lisa of Roswell, Ray Baca and his wife, Patsy of Hurley, and Frank Baca and his wife, Anita of Highmore, S.D.; three daughters, Lupe Gutierrez and her husband, Thomas of Rio Rancho, Susie Armendariz and her husband, Michael of Bayard, and Lucy Baca of Hurley; and 16 grandchildren, Adrienne Harvey and her husband, Chad, Mike Baca, Nicole Baca, Buddy Baca, Michelle Baca, Elizabeth Baca, Johnnie Baca, Frankie Baca, Eric Gutierrez, Kevin Gutierrez, Brian Gutierrez, Jacob Gutierrez, Anthony Armendariz, Monica Armendariz, Gabriel Armendariz and Amy Armendariz. His parents, Frank T. Baca on Nov. 2, 1965 and Paula C. Baca on April 14, 1979, preceded him in death. Casket bearers will be Mike Baca, Eric Gutierrez, Anthony Armendariz, Johnny Cardoza, Frank Carbajal Sr., Genaro Baca, Ray Apodaca and Willie Zapata. Honorary bearers are all his relatives, compadres and friends. Entrusted to the care of Baca's Funeral Chapels.
