One of the sadest deaths that has occurred in Grant County for many years, was the death on Sunday morning, July 5, 1896, of Mrs. Bettie Haydon Hill, born January 4, 1856, wife and helpmate of Brother G. W. Hill who is known and loved all over Northern Kentucky. For four months Mrs. Hill had been a sufferer from pneumonia and fever. She was a model wife and devoted to her husband and children.

The funeral services were conducted from the Baptist Church Tuesday morning. From the church the body was borne to the city of the dead, followed by one of the largest funeral corteges that ever passed through the streets of Williamston. After a short talk at the grave by Rev. T. W. Barnes, the earth was placed over the coffin and all that was mortal of the remains of Mrs. Hill was laid to rest in Williamstown Cemetery.
