Alexander the son of Robert Bean b. 1738 and Martha McDonald b. 1744 lived a very disputed life. It is said that he was married abroad a ship coming from Ireland to a girl named Peggy Farr. But this Alexander wasn't the man. Family genealogist believe that maybe it was Alexander's uncle that had married Peggy Farr. He was however married to Margeret Andrew and moved to Alabama in 1826. He and his brother William lived on Bellefonte Island in Jackson Co. AL for a couple of years before Alexander moved on to live among the Wakefield Indians in Meltonsville , close to Guntersville, AL. There he built a grist mill on Short Creek and later one on Towne Creek. The remains of the mill can still be seen on Towne Creek. It's strongly believed that William and his son John are buried in the Old Bain Cemetery with Alexander as there is folklore stories of them making the trip to Guntersville from Jackson County .
