Albert Owen (Bert) Whitney, retired Utah-Idaho Sugar Company Foreman, died Thursday at the age of 69, after a five days' illness.

Albert was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on September 15, 1893, a son of Orson F and Zina Smoot Whitney. He had live in Garland, Utah since 1933.

Active in civic affairs of the community he has been Chairman of Garland Wheat and Beet Days for many years, and was organizer of a Boy's Athletic Club. At the time of his death, he was City Judge and Justice of the Peace in Garland. He was a member of the LDS Church.

He was married and divorced, and then married Nelda Burns on July 8, 1933 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Surviving are his widow, Garland, Utah; and one son: A Newell Whitney, San Francisco, California; a son and daughter by the first marriage: Mrs E C (Helen) Cook and Drew Whitney, both of Ogden, Utah; three grandchildren; also the following brothers and sisters: Wendell, San Diego, California; Murray W, Mrs Winslow (Emily) Smith, Mrs Don C (Virginia) James, Mrs Margaret Essig, all of Salt Lake City, Utah.

Burial was held in the Fielding City Cemetery, Fielding, Utah.
