Name: Jean G. Libby
Born: 18 Jan 1945
Died: 12 Dec 2007
State SSN issued: Missouri (1961-1962)

Jean Libby, RN, CHPN of Towanda RR 3, Towanda Township, Pa., was born on Jan. 18, 1945, in Pasco. Wash., and passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident the previous week. She was preceded in death by her mother, Eulah Collins Anderson, and father, Guy Anderson.
She is survived by her husband, Virgil Libby of Towanda, Pa.; whereas his wife she devoted her life to a loving marriage of 42 years, and son, Mark Libby of Towanda, Pa., who served in the Army in Germany and Kentucky, which helped fuel the patriotic pride and love of country which Jean so often displayed. The love and support she had for her son through times of separation never wavered. Berniece Abbott (and husband Dale of Towanda) is the stepdaughter of Jean. The only "step" that existed for Jean and Berny was the one she used to lift Berny up and place her on a pedestal. Jean's grandchildren were truly blessed and influenced by her love. They are: Loren Bellows and husband Bryan of Troy, Pa.; Kensey Abbott of Towanda; and Wade Abbott, currently serving in Iraq, and his wife, Jenny, of Katterbach, Germany. Stepdaughter Judy Randall, her husband, Ray, and their children reside in Belle Plaine, Kan. Once again Jean's language of love would omit the word "step" from her vocabulary, showing a true mother's love, unconditional to the hidden truth. Jean had three sisters and one brother: twin sister Jane Newberry of Kansas City, Mo., along with husband Calvin, and their children; sister Carla Anderson of St. Louis, Mo.; and sister Edna Anderson of Kansas City, Mo.; and brother Bill Anderson and wife Joan of Salem, Mo. They will cherish all the memories of their sister Jean.
Jean loved serving and helping people. Even if it meant the sacrifice of something important to her she would always do it with no questions asked. She loved it so much, in fact, that she devoted over 20 years of her life as a registered nurse. She was employed as a registered and certified hospice and palliative nurse at the Memorial Hospital Home Health in Towanda, where her friends and co-workers displayed the same selfless service by helping and caring for her through her last days with us here on earth. Not only did Jean love everyone but, especially when she needed it most, everyone loved her. All who have known Jean have a wonderful peace, knowing full well her place with the Lord. The funeral and committal service will be held at noon Tuesday, Dec. 18, at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, with the Rev. Glen Landis, pastor of the New Life Church, Canton, Pa., officiating. Interment will be in the Franklin Center Cemetery, Franklin Township, Pa.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The family suggests that memorial contributions may be directed to Memorial Hospital Hospice, 1 Hospital Drive, Towanda, Pa. 18848, in Jean Libby's memory.
