Georgia Dickinson was born on the 29th of June 1900; the daughter of Gardner and Georgia (née Gaston) Dickinson of Savannah, Georgia. Georgia was the sister of Gardner F. Dickinson (1903-1972), the step-sister of Willie Overton Dickinson (1894-1909) and Adelaide Howell (1911-1954).
After the death of her father in 1906, Georgia and her mother & siblings moved to Atlanta, Georgia. There, Georgia attend The Woodberry Academy; where she studied the classics and developed a love for history. In her high school years, Georgia wrote a daily column for The Atlanta Constitution, tuning her skills that she would use the rest of her life.
In 1926, Georgia Dickinson married J. Powell Wardlaw, the son of Joesph & Edna Wardlaw of Atlanta. This union produced one daughter, Robin Wardlaw Miller (1928-2009). The Wardlaws moved to Richmond, Virginia; where Powell Wardlaw worked for Esso Oil. Georgia established herself as a writer and historian of Virginia. In 1935, Georgia wrote and published, "The Old and the Quaint in Virginia".
Known as "Puddie" by her family, Georgia Wardlaw was loved by all. Her energy and enthusiasm inspired generation after generation. She died near her daughter's home on the 5th of March 1986 and was laid to rest in her beloved State of Virginia beside her husband, J. Powell Wardlaw.
