On Broadway, William played in ''Ah, Wilderness!,'' ''Caesar and Cleopatra,'' ''My Sister Eileen'' and ''Richard II.'' In television he performed in ''The Edge of Night,'' ''Another World,'' ''As the World Turns'' and ''The Guiding Light.'' For 25 years he headed the drama department at the now defunct Finch College. William was married twice, first to actress Joan Castle, they would divorce in 1944, his second wife Doris Broiles. William died of a chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in Oklahoma City. He was 88 years old and lived in Granite, Oklahoma.
