Age 84. PID by her husband, Dr. Joe B. Drane, Jr in 1990; parents; sisters, Margaret Youngren and Mary Jane Risher; and her brother, R. Leonard Allen.

Rose was born at home at 640 Courtland Street in the Heights of Houston, Texas. Her mother Amy Josephine Nyberg died in the great 1918-1919 flu epidemic on 22 January, 1919, less than two months after Rose's birth. Rose went to live with and grew up under the foster care of her maternal uncle, John Albert Nyberg and his wife, Nana Leona Noonan. Rose's father Ralph Waldo Allen moved to Los Angeles CA, after placing Rose's brother Ralph Leonard with great aunt Sarah Hannah Green and Rose's eldest sister Margaret Louise with his sister Elsie. Second eldest sister Mary Jane went with her maternal grandparents to CA and lived with them in Los Angeles.

Rose grew up in the Heights of Houston during the Great Depression. Because her foster father John Albert was a US Post Office employee, their family lived relatively well during the depression. Later Rose joined her father Ralph in Los Angeles, where she attended a year of high school., but she moved back to Houston after only a year, saying the classmates in LA ridiculed her Texas accent. She graduated from Reagan High School at the top of her class.

Rose married Joe B Drane Jr and supported him through dental school. They spent WW II in Big Springs TX, at Webb Army Air Corps Base, then moved to Pasadena TX where Joe started a private practice. He Later became a professor and a maxillofacial prosthodontist at the Univ of TX Dental School and Chief of Dental Oncology at MD Anderson Hospital. Rose was always known for her most gracious hostess abilities in the myriad entertaining she and Joe did in Houston.

After Joe's death from lung cancer in 1990, Rose moved to Victoria TX to live out her remaining years near her first born son and caregiver, John Russell Drane.
