Sandra was an only child to parents George Chandler and Margaret Meriwether, primarily raised by her father and grandfather(as her mother was mostly ill and died when Sandra was age 13).

Her grandfather, Clarence, a prominent and influential businessman, founded Chandler Landscaping and Floral Company of Kansas City, with her father George as vice president; thus aiding her classical upbringing in education and social etiquette.

Additionally, an Old South cultural influence of the Meriwether lineage(her great grandfather, David Meriwether, was a confederate corporal during the civil war) played a part in her persona, as she occasionally referred to herself as a 'southern belle'(including the accent, on que) and how she missed 'black eyed peas'.

As a result, she also acquired culinary skills enabling her to throw social galas(in high heels, no less), including hor'dourves and multi-course meals for dozens of guests at a time. In essence, she became a classic lady in spirit and soul.

Her formal education included:

-Southwest High School, Kansas City, MO;
....Class of 1946
....[Theta sorority]
-University of Missouri, 1948-49
....[Apha Phi sorority]
-Lindenwood College, St Charles, MO;
....B.A. degree, 1950.
....[Alpha Sigma Tau sorority]
....1958 Newsletter
-Saint Louis University, St Louis, MO;
....B.S. Med Tech degree, 1952
....[met future husband, Jerome Stroot, there]
-Wayne State University, Detroit, MI;
....B.S. Nursing degree, 1960.

Sandra was engaged December 29, 1951 and married to Jerome H Stroot of Quincy, Ill, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church
in Kansas City, MO on May 24, 1952; while he was a medical student at Saint Louis University. The reception was held at her grandfather Clarence's home in KC. She converted to the Roman Catholic faith from the Presbyterian church for her marriage.

That union resulted in two sons and two daughters, of which, one son Lawrence tragically died at the age of 26 in 1980 and is now buried with her.

Following the unexpected death of her father, George in 1954, of whom she was very close; and the passing of her dear grandfather, Clarence in 1963; Sandra was never the same and died at the young age of 40 in 1969 of an unforeseen perforated bleeding gastric ulcer. Her death had a profound impact on the family for decades to follow.

She is buried next to her father, George; and has been greatly missed ever since.

....................Family Lineages....................

Born into Chandler and Meriwether lineages; notably, the former of the immigrant sailor "George and Jane Chandler" lineage from Delaware, 1687; and the latter of the Nicholas Meriwether I lineage from Jamestown, c1652.
Also, of note, the Meriwether lineage includes first cousin(5x removed) Captain Meriwether Lewis of the famed Lewis and Clark Expedition(his mother being Lucy Meriwether, of whom her maiden name was used to christen her son).

In addition, Sandra's maternal grandmother, Miriam Klock Meriwether, was the niece of Margaret Klock who married Simeon Armour of the well known Armour Meat Packing Company founded in the 1870's.
