US Senator. He was vice president of the Carnegie Steel Company Pittsburgh, when he relocated to Denver, Colorado, in 1901. There he engaged in investment interests, was president of the Colorado Taxpayers’ Protective League in 1913, chairman of the mountain division in the Red Cross campaign in 1917 and was a member of the Colorado council of defense in 1917. In 1918, he was elected as a Republican to the United States Senate, serving until 1931. Not a candidate for reelection, he engaged in railroad and electric power investments, in California. He died at the age of 95.
