Mrs. Eva Summers Died Monday, May 25

Mrs. Eva Summers, resident of this community for many years, passed away Monday, May 25, 1964 at Ord, Nebraska, following a lingering illness. Funeral services were held at the First Congregational Church Thursday, May 28. Reverend Jacob Merrill officiated. Pallbearers were Ora Masters, Richard Hulinsky, Wm. Davenport, Harlan Winter, Edward John and Bernard Shotkoski. Interment was in the Arcadia Cemetery with Hastings-Pearson Mortuary in charge of arrangements.

Elsie Evelyn Summers was born to Martin VanBuren Vance and Ollie Davis Vance June 23, 1904, near Davis Creek Community southwest of North Loup, Nebraska, and died May 25, 1964, at the hospital at Ord, Nebraska, at the age of 59 years, 11 months, and two days. She was married to Lewis M. Summers at Loup City, Nebraska, February 21, 1923 and lived all her married life in the Arcadia vicinity. She had been a member of the Arcadia American Legion Auxiliary for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Martin Vance, and one infant brother.

She is survived by her husband of Arcadia; her son, Fred, and wife, Dorothy, and three granddaughters, Catherine, Marla, and Judy, of Central City, Nebraska; four sisters, Mrs. Bertha Hagameyer of Pauline, Nebraska, Mrs. Belle Leatherman of Gray, Oklahoma, Mrs. Anna Lindell of Comstock, Nebraska, and Mrs. Ollie Stone of Ord, Nebraska; and a host of relatives and friends.
