Elizabeth Jones married Antony Thacher six weeks before they sailed to America on the "James" in 1635 shortly after Antony's first wife died. Elizabeth died some unknown date after 5 March 1667/8 (when she was granted letters of administration for Anthony's estate) and was buried next to Antony beside a pear tree probably planted by them in or about 1639. The tree, now gone, was reported to be still living in 1801.

Elizabeth Jones was baptized at Dinder, Somerset, 1 Jan 1602/3, daughter of George Jones of Dinder. She became the 2nd wife of Anthony Thacher by 1635, This marriage was said to have taken place "about 6 weeks before the date of his sailing for New England.."

They had 3 known children:

JOHN: b. Marblehead MA, 17 Mar 1638/9; m. (1) 6 Nov 1661, Rebecca Winslow, daughter of Josiah Winslow {1631 Plymouth}; m.(2) Yarmouth MA, 1 Jan 1683/4, Lydia Gorham, daughter of John Gorham.

JUDAH: b. say 1642; m. by 1667, Mary Thornton, daughter of Thomas Thornton {1633, Dorchester}.

BETHIA: b. say 1649; m. by 1669, Jabez Howland, son of John Howland {1620, Plymouth}.

Elizabeth was sister of Richard Jones {1635, Dorchester} & of Dorothy (Jones) Sears, wife of Richard Sears {1633, Plymouth}.
