WM. ROBERTSON PASSES AWAY
Well Known Civil War Veteran and Resident of Wapello Community
Wapello, Ia., Jan. 28 -- William Robertson, Civil War veteran and a resident of this community, died at his home two miles south of Wapello, on the river road, at 10 o'clock Monday night.
Deceased was born at Hope, Indiana on August 29, 1846 [son of John T. and Mary Montgomery Robertson]. He was married to Miss Olivia Brown, of Wapello, Oct. 26, 1874, who survives with four children as follows: Mrs. Nettie Benish, Cedar Rapids; Robert A. Robertson, Wapello; Mrs. Orpha Carpenter, Waterloo; and Mrs. Lottie Young, Wapello. One son Harvey died in infancy. One brother, Sylvester Robertson of Cherryvale, Kans. and a half brother, Wesley Robertson of Oakville also survive.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home, conducted by the Rev. C. E. Burdine of the Presbyterian church of Wapello. Burial will be in the Wapello cemetery.
Mr. Robertson had three discharges from the union army. He first enlisted with an Indiana regiment and was mustered out of service from the 150th Iowa regiment, Company C.
