Grant was reburied in Douglas, AZ 4 years after he was killed in action in France. Grant died near Labeauville, France on 15 September 1944. His mother, Beulah, inquired from War Department of his death. Telegram dated 4 June 1945 said he was killed in action by a jeep overturning on top of him. This occurred before the Battle of the Bulge which began December 16, 1944. Grant's body was exhumed in France and shipped on November 5, 1948 and arrived in Douglas on November 9, 1948. Services were held on November 11, 1948 at 3:00 pm at the Calvary Cemetery in Douglas, Cochise, Arizona.
