Hugh was a grocery merchant, and died of uremia, according to his death certificate, informant was his wife of Madison Mo.

Madison -- H. L. Armstrong was honored guest at a dinner served by Mrs. Armstrong in their home Thursday celebrating his 86th birthday. There were four generations present -- Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong; their daughter, Mrs. Robert Christie of Memphis, Tenn.; their granddaughter, Mrs. John Peoples, and their great granddaughter, Ellen Marie Peoples. A son, William S. Armstrong, and Mrs. Armstrong, of St. Louis, also were present for the occasion.

H. L. Armstrong, 87, Dies in Madison; Funeral Tomorrow.

Madison: Hugh L. Armstrong, 87, died at 6:20 o'clock last night at his home in Madison, Mo.
Mr. Armstrong was born in Madison, on the same site where he died and had spent his entire life here. He was the son of Samuel A. and Lucy Armstrong, pioneer residents of Madison.

While a young man, Mr. Armstrong was employed by the J. R. Chowning Dry Goods Company and was later in the grocery business. At the time if his retirement, he was a telegraph operator for the old M. R. and T. railroad.

Mr. Armstrong was the last of a family of five children. Surviving are his wife, the former Miss Pearl Noel of Madison; two children, William S. Armstrong of St. Louis and Mrs. Robert S. Christie of Memphis, Tenn.; a granddaughter, Mrs. Johnny Peoples, and a great granddaughter, Ellen Marie Peoples, both of Memphis, Tenn.; and a niece and nephew, Mrs. Bessie Milligan of Slater and Norvin Armstrong of Pasadena, Calif.

The body is at the Thompson Funeral Home. Services will be conducted there at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon by the Rev. William Winter, Methodist minister. Burial will be in Sunset Hill cemetery.
