Record was the daughter of Increase Newton and Record Wheelock and the grand daughter of William Ward a 1st settler of Medfield Mass.

Thomas was an active citizen and served as a Selectman for the years 1718,1719,1722,1725 and 1729.

Thomas and Record had 7 children: Martha Newton (1699-1722); Thomas Newton (1700-1767); Obediah Newton {1702 -1753); Phoebe Newton (1704-?); Abner Newton (1707-1750: Persis Newton (1713-1746) David Newton (1714 - ?)
