FORT SCOTT TRIBUNE OBITUARY
THURSDAY NOVEMBER 17, 1938

J.J. HALL, GROCER
DIES AFTER ILLNESS

PARALYSIS CAUSES DEATH AT THE AGE OF 60.

He Had Lived Here 20 Years and His Store Was Situated on Oak Street.

Judson J. Hall, 60, prominent Oak street grocer and a resident of Fort Scott for the past 20 years, died this morning at 12:15 at the Burke Street Mercy hospital, following a siege of paralysis that continued over a period of several weeks.

A son of Mr. and Mrs. Kelley Hall, he was born at Devon on October 26, 1878. He had resided in this county all of his life. Twenty years ago he came to Fort Scott and worked as a boilermaker at the Frisco shops. Later he embarked in the grocery business and was employed at the Buxton and Wilch stores before going into business for himself.

On April 19, 1905, he was married to Rose Johannes at Devon, and she survives. He is also survived by one brother, Omer Hall, of Montana and one sister, Mrs. Bert Gordon, of La Grange, Ill.

Mr. Hall was a member of the Methodist church, the Elks lodge, and the M.W.A. "Judd," as he was better known, was of a genial disposition and possessed of an unusual sense of humor. He made many friends.

The funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Centerville church conducted by Dr. C.I. Coldsmith of the First Methodist church. Interment will be made in the Centerville cemetery.

The pallbearers will be Jake Commons, Bert Maxwell, Emerald Snyder, Reed Hill, Walter Buell and James Harris.
