US Congressman. Born in Fort Worth, Texas, he attended the University of Texas, (1929-33), graduated from Southern Methodist University School of Law in 1937, was admitted to the bar and commenced the practice of law in Dallas, Texas. During World War II, he served an officer in the US Army Air Corps Intelligence as a special investigator, (1943-45). After the war, he was a member of Texas State House of Representatives, (1953-58). In 1963, he was elected as a Democrat to the Eighty-eighth, Eighty-ninth and Ninetieth Congresses, serving until his death from a heart attack at age 57 in Houston, Texas.
