Clarence W. Peters, 56 years old, traveling salesman in Southern Indiana for the Martin Broom Company, Louisville, died at 7:30 o'clock Wednesday morning at his home, 1602 Shelby Place, following a three-weeks illness from typhoid fever. Mr. Peters was a native of New Albany and always resided here. He was well known in this part of the State. He was a member of Central Christian Church and Jefferson Lodge of Masons. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Edith Peters; two sons, Willard and Charles Peters; two daughters, Mrs. Elmer Tuell and Miss Mary Peters; two grandchildren and one brother, Raymond Peters, all of New Albany. - New Albany Tribune 29 Jul 1931

[Note: Clarence appears on the 1920 census in Memphis, Tennessee, as manager of a handle factory. His wife and children and brother are also enumerated in Memphis. Prior to that, he had spent several years in Huntington, WV, with the Huntington Handle Company. The family is back in Indiana for the 1930 census.]
