Collins - Mr. David Henry Callaway, 88, died Thursday, December 25, 2003 at the Candler County Hospital. The Tattnall County native was the son of the late B.J. and Annie Callaway and was a graduate of Collins High School and Georgia Normal Business College.

He was a Veteran of World War II and a former bookkeeper. He was a retired farmer, Director Emeritus of Farm credit and a former trustee of Tattnall County schools. He was a member and Deacon of the Evergreen Baptist church where he had served as Sunday School Superintendent and taught Sunday School for several years.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Eunice Lanier Callaway of Collins; two daughters and sons-in-law, Fran and Jack Edwards of Valdosta, Eve and Bob Willson of Roswell; son and his fiancee, Kenny Callaway and Therese McNally of Atlanta; brother, Anson Callaway of Lyons; four sisters, Mary Lou Hadley of Sarasota, FL, Nona DeBoer of Pensacola, FL, Joyce Corry of Tifton and Adel Siegel of Colorado Springs, CO; devoted cousin and caregiver, Janice Sapp of Collins; a host of nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

Funeral Services: 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Evergreen Baptist Church.

Burial: Anderson Cemetery.

The body will lie in state on hour prior to the service.
