The only child of Simon F. and Florence E. Diehl Petermeier, Chester Julius was born Jan. 30, 1906, at Baxter and attended Baxter schools.

He wed Laura Loarine Inglis at the Little Brown Church in Nashua on Nov. 23, 1927. They had two daughters, Loretta (Mrs. Donald) Stubbe of Marshalltown, and Aileen (Mrs. Lowdell) Taylor of Ankeny; and four grandchildren.

Chester was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Baxter and the Center Hawkeye Gas Engine Tractor Association.

A resident of Baxter since 1964, Chester was 69-years-old when he died at his home on Nov. 24, 1975.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Baxter Congregational United Church of Christ. The Rev. T. A. Thompson, pastor of the church conducted Chester's services. Burial was in Restland Cemetery in Baxter. Boyd Nickell Funeral Home in Baxter handled the arrangements.

Chester was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter.
