KERRVILLE Mr. Franklin John Baer, 88, of Kerrville, passed away Monday, Feb. 23, 2004, at his residence. He was born Aug. 20, 1915, in Pampa, Texas, to Chris and Frieda (Schroeder) Baer. On June 19, 1938, he married Mildred J. Binion in Pampa.

Mr. Baer was a prior resident of Dumas, Texas, and was active in the First Methodist Church there. Also in Dumas, he owned and operated a John Deere dealership for 30 years.

Mr. Baer was involved in the communities he lived in and farmed for many years. He was a member of Lions Club, and for several years, was a Senior Scout Leader. Mr. Baer was a member of First Christian Church in Kerrville.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred Baer of Kerrville; two daughters, Carolyn Reid and husband, Jim Reid, of Kerrville and Victoria Walker and husband, Dr. John Walker, of College Station; five grandchildren, Gari Reid Lord and husband, Murray, of Liberty Hill, Texas, Kelly Reid Witte and husband, Alan, of Boerne, James Franklin Reid and wife, Brooke, of Pflugerville, Wende Walker Whitus and husband, Greg, of Austin, and Brad Ingram Walker and wife, Andrea, of Wilmington, N.C.; and five great-grandchildren, Blair and Zachary Lord, both of Liberty Hill, Jace Reid, of Austin, and Lori and Lindsey Whitus, both of Austin.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, at Grimes Funeral Chapels, officiated by Dr. David McFadden. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, at Grimes Funeral Chapels.
