Howard J. Bartelt, 84, of Chapin Street Apartments in Florence, Wisconsin, died on Monday, September 24, 2001, at his home.

He was born on March 22, 1918, in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, son of the late Ernst and Linda (Feldman) Bartelt.
Howard married Bernice Clara Vogel on December 30, 1939. She preceded him in death in December, 1998.

He is survived by a son, Wayne (Mary) Bartelt of Spread Eagle, Wisconsin; two brothers, Gene (Lucille) Bartelt of Milwaukee and Robert (Billie) Bartelt of lower Michigan; two grandchildren, Darrell Bartelt of Sussex, Wisconsin and Dennis Bartelt of Colgate, Wisconsin; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, David Bartelt.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the Chapel in Pinelawn Cemetery. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Thursday at the chapel. Rev. Lowell Timm will officiate. Burial will be in the Pinelawn Cemetery.
