"Mrs. Elma Rager died at a quarter past nine o'clock Monday evening at the home of her son-in-law, Charley Ross, after a lingering illness and breaking down due to old age. The funeral services were conducted at the home Wednesday by Rev. Johnson of the Baptist church, and interment made at Walnut Hill. The pallbearers were members of the G.A.R., of which her husband, John Rager, who preceded her in death 20 years ago, was comrade. Mr. and Mrs. Rager were among the old settlers of this county, having come here and taken up a claim in 1878. They were parents of five daughters, four of whom could be present at their mother's funeral. Mrs. Rager had reached the age of 72 years."
