Effie Jane Murphy died from cancer on December 23, 1971 at her home in the Vernon Community in Monroe County, Kentucky. She was 59 years old. Effie was the daughter of the late Hiram Biggerstaff and Tacy Ann Wilson Cloyd.
Survivors include her husband: Clint Murphy; sons: Jackie Allen Murphy, Frankfort, Kentucky; Paula Denton Murphy & Freddie Max Murphy, both of Tompkinsville, Kentucky; daughters: Mertie Ann Johnson, Tompkinsville, and Mary Lou Scott of Indianapolis, Indiana;
brothers: Clurie Cloyd & David Cloyd, both of Tompkinsville.
sisters : Edna Gray, Eurissa Cleary, Georgie Williams, and Ione Gettings, all of Tompkinsville, and Gladell Stout of Indianapolis, Indiana; and 13 grandchildren. Effie Jane Murphy was preceded in death by a son; Stanley Hugh Murphy.
Services were conducted at Cedar Grove Church of Christ by Bro. O. B. Page on Saturday, December 25, at 1:00 p.m. Interment was in Center Point Cemtery. Yokley Funeral Home in charge.
