Lawrence H. Towers
FEDERALSBURG — Lawrence H. Towers of Federalsburg passed away Thursday, July 14, 2011, at Envoy of Denton. He was 94. He was born Aug. 28, 1916, in Pinetown, near Denton, Md., son of the late Andrew J. Towers and Elsie Mae Howard Towers.
He was a farmer and also had worked for the former Excelsior Pearl Works and Long Lumber & Supply Co. He attended Harmony United Methodist Church and Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church. He enjoyed doing wood working.
He is survived by his wife of seventy years, Ruth E. Quillen Towers, whom he married Jan. 24, 1941; three daughters, Doris T. Meredith and her husband, Edwin, of Federalsburg, J. Lynne Breeding of Federalsburg and Connie E. Dunnock and her husband, Emmett, of Cambridge; a daughter-in-law, Diane Towers of Federalsburg; seven grandchildren, Katherine M. Cummings, Sally M. Worm, Terri T. Blanchfield, Jeff M. Towers, Heather L. Kraus, Carl E. Dunnock and Chelsea E. Dunnock; 10 great-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, L. Marvin Towers; and a brother, Robert Towers.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg, with the Rev. Dan Walker and Robert Mackert officiating. Interment will follow in Hill Crest Cemetery. Friends may call the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
