The Church family and the Montague family moved from Massachusetts to Vermont in the mid 1700's.

John was the son of Benjamin and Hannah Dickinson Church. He married Jemima Montague on March 24, 1741. They had four children.

Jemima married William Chapin
Joseph married Eunice Montague
Moses married Esther Montague
Hannah married Timothy Mather

NOTE: John Church may not be buried in Windham. According to the "Report of Daughters of the American Revolution" page 287 Volume 5, "Buried on farm of Edwin Adams." Also, John in listed as a Soldier of the Revolutionary War being buried in Marlboro.
