Charleston Gazette - Braxton Co. Teacher Dies - SUTTON - Carson Edison Howard, a retired teacher in Braxton and Kanawha counties for 30 years prior to retirement, died Thursday. Mr. Howard, 72, of Sutton, died of an apparent heart attack on a Sutton Street. A graduate of West Virginia University, he was a member of the National Retired Teachers Assn., and was a licensed WVa. real estate salesman with the Grayco Agency in Sutton. He was a member of Sutton Chirst Church United Methodist and Kappa Sigma fraternity. Surviving; son, Dr. Edward Howard of Point Pleasant; brother, Chalen A. Howard of Moundsville; sisters, Miss Letha Howard of Wheeling, Mrs. Lenore Eselin and Mrs. Dean Maxwell, both of Alliance, Ohio; three grandchildren. Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday in Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton,with the Rev. Joseph Stump officiating. Burial will be in Sutton Cemetery.
