===========

Bloodline: Breaking though the adoption:
Note: DNA research is showing her descendants and DNA shared matches have a common ancestor of: Hermanus Henricus Klingelhoets.
Several DNA Cousin matches on Ancestry.com all have this person as a common ancestor.
Their shared DNA matches include: Barbara Marie LaVene Krohne [Daughter], Ted Ray Krohne [Son Kenneth's son], Julie Rozanna Krohne [Son Kenneth's Daughter], Cameo Kathleen Krohne [Son Marvin's Son's Don's Daughter], KEJ - Kathleen Eileen Weiner (Jochec) [Son Kenneth Krohne's adopted away Daughter], & Christine Elaine Paddock (Mitchell) [Daugher of Dorothy "Dolly" Krohne's adopted away Daughter].
There are no other Krohne family relatives that also share their DNA with this group other than descendants of Irma (Krohne) so we must share common great-great grandparents.

Likely candidate for her parents are: Mary "Mary" Hubertina Klingelhoets & Joseph Frank Tschimperle. They lived in Minneapolis, MN in 1900 & 1905 MN Census.
While 1910 Census shows 0 children born--could be because Irma was adopted away.

===========

NOTE: Her parents adopted her so family tree from her up on her side (Foster-Dockham) is adopting family line, not blood line. Cannot find any records so only DNA may lead to a blood ancestor one day.

Marie Moore: Born on 8-23-1903 in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota.
Irma Maguerite Foster: She was then adopted (possibly informally without paperwork) in December 1903 by William Martin Foster and Laura Lucretia Dockham Foster and renamed--Irma Foster. She later named herself Irma Marguerite Foster, or sometimes Irma Margaret Foster. She usually signed her name Irma M. Foster.

No Birth Record could be found in all of August 1903 in Minneapolis, Minnesota for Marie Moore in a 2005 request. Perhaps she was born at home and her birth was not recorded.

Irma tried very diligently to obtain her birth certificate in order to get her SSN, but was unable to do so. The building which stored the records may have burned down. Her daughter Dolly has the letters regarding her efforts.

Irma was adopted from an orphanage in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota, and taken to Osakis, Douglas County, Minnesota, by train. The story is that she was born to a rich socialite family and the wife did not want to have the hassle and problems a child caused to her lifestyle. The infant was given up for adoption, but no papers were prepared--sort of informal. The biological father did visit with Irma a couple times, but no one remembers or knows her biological parents' names--other than Moore.

Because all efforts to track down her biological ancestry thus far has been unfruitful, the ancestors listed up the family ancestor tree (or back any generations) from this point are related through ADOPTION--not blood, but Irma and the family loved her adoptive side of the family emmensely.

Note: I wonder if "Moore" is a relation because it is her mother's maternal grandmother's maiden name?

Declaration regarding birth of
Irma Marguerite Foster (born Marie Moore),
by Vera Fae Godding:
"May 16, 1966
It was in December of 1903 when I remember coming home from school to find that my uncle and aunt William and Laura Foster, had gotten a baby girl. A woman had brought her from Minneapolis, Minn. She said the baby's name was Marie Moore and that she was born August 23rd of that year. There was no reason to question that because the baby appeared to be about four months old. The Fosters adopted her and she was given the name of Irma Marguerite Foster. I remember this well and am sure of the year because I know that I was eleven years old. I was born in 1892.

7 Mar - about 1916: RHETORIC POEM
by IRMA FOSTER KROHNE, Friday March 7 (approx. 1916)
(Only poem she ever wrote)
"JESUS, THE TRUE SHEPHERD
Jesus is the Shepherd true,
Who leadeth us by His hand
his spirit falls as the gentle dew
Falls upon the thirsty land.
The good Shepherd is Jesus
Who all our sins did bear
Who laid down His life for us
And still makes us His care.
The faithful Shepherd is Jesus
Who ever warns His followers
Of the temptations, which for us
Hints joy ever after.
Jesus is the loving Shepherd
Who ever watches over us.
Have we, His followers heard
And heeded all His summons."

1 Sep 1921: Long Prairie Leader (Todd County, Minnesota), Wednesday, Page 2, Column 7:
"Two Weddings at Court House
Rev. C. H. Blake, pastor of the local Methodist church, officiated at two weddings at the court house late last Wednesday afternoon. The first couple to wed were Miss Irma M. Foster and Mr. Charles A. Krohne, Miss Ruth G. Weum and Mr. Antone Adamek [no relation] serving as witnesses to the ceremony. Immediately upon its conclusion, Miss Weum and Mr. Adamek took their places in front of the minister and were themselves united in marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Clairis Kendall being the subscribing witnesses. Mr. and Mrs. Krohne are from the Eagle Bend vicinity, Mr. Admek is one of the prominent farmers of Moran township and his bride a young lady from Staples: The Leader joins other friends in extending congratulations."
[NOTE: Both Eagle Bend & Moran Twp. are in Todd County, Minnesota.]

Charles and Irma knew each other from Sabbath school at the SDA church in Minnesota and were friends. Mr. Foster did not think Charles was good enough for his daughter and decided to move back to California to get Irma into college and bigger and better things. Irma and Charles were in love and determined not to be separated so eloped and were married at the courthouse on Wednesday, 8-24-1921, using another couple who happened to be there to get married also as their witnesses. Pretending nothing happened that day, they each went to their respective homes and spent their first night married apart. They waited until the next day to tell their parents what they had done. Essentially, they eloped before the Fosters could move away. This way, Charles was able to come to California with the Fosters when they moved and helped Mr. Foster in the (orange) grove in Redlands, San Bernardino County, California.

12-12-1921: Charles Alvin Krohne and Irma Marguerite ("Marie Moore") Foster (Krohne) and her parents moved from Todd County, Minnesota to Riverside, Riverside County, California. See an Interesting Letter from Todd County Tourists to California that was published in the newspaper and is transcribed below:.
Handwritten Note: Minnesota to Los Angeles [CA] / 1921 - 2500 mi. / 1970 - 1940 mi.
"... Altogether we traveled about 2,500 miles from Eagle Bend and only had one blowout and that was within 65 miles of Riverside, and one puncture caused by a tack. Two tires came through on Minnesota air. We made anywhere from 100 to 160 miles a day. One day we made 177 miles and on the road 10 ½ hours, and one day but 64 miles and on the road 9 hours.
This is quite an account of our trip but if there is something else anyone would like to know, we will gladly tell them if we can. Please do not hesitate to write, even if you do not wish any special information.-The Season's Greetings to each and all, Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Foster, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Krohne, 251 So Adams St., Riverside, California."

"Dorcas Honor Service at Bellingham
Sabbath, April 7, was a high day for Dorcas in Bellingham. Not a day of sewing, sorting, sales, or selling, but a day of recognition and honor due the fourteen who had worked so faithfully and diligently.
Elder Kott assisted by the pastor, Elder Gordon, conducted the service and presented the Dorcas pins. The leader gave a brief report and told of present plans and work.
One of the interesting features was the word that thousands of pounds of clothing have already been sent to North Africa, Ethiopia, Italy, Belgium, and the Philippines. Messages of appreciation have been received from those receiving the shipments.
Bellingham was happy to do its part and to have the Dorcas Honor Service as a note of appreciation to its active members.
MRS. IRMA KROHNE, Leader.

"Washington Conference"
"A Camp Meeting to Remember
Saturday night, July 19, closed a most successful and profitable camp meeting at our Auburn Academy grounds. From the first to the last a wonderful spirit was manifest on the part of workers and laity alike. Inspiring messages were brought to us by our local ministers. A number of General Conference brethren were with us, among them Elders A. V. Olson….
Not only did they have their meetings and recreational periods during the day, but in the evening they had a regular camp fire and story hour, such as is held at Junior camps. We are sure all parents feel deeply grateful to the brethren who spent so much time and effort in making the camp meeting a real success for our boys and girls. Mrs. Krohne did a splendid work with the Kindergarten folk, and probably of all the divisions this one is the most work, for when we get from 100 to 250 tiny tots together, it takes some real thinking and energy to keep their interest…."

"It Didn't Stop There
Something very interesting that we wish to share with readers of the GLEANER has just come to us from Mrs. Irma M. Krohne, Bellingham, Washington.
Like, hundreds of other active church
press secretaries, Sister Krohne made an interesting report of the Bellingham church activities for the year 1947 to the local paper, in this case the Bellingham Herald. Incidentally, it goes into 19,000 homes. The story reviewed work along relief lines, young people's activities, representation at the Youth's Congress in San Francisco, and the ten-grade school that is in operation. It told also that the 333 members had contributed in tithes and missions offerings the sum of $56,999, had given $887 for famine relief, and $17,823 for local expenses and home missionary activities--or a total of $75,809 during the year.
This made a good news story and the members were glad to see it published. But it didn't stop there. Apparently the pastor of the Methodist church was somewhat stirred by it, and decided that it would stimulate his members if brought more directly to them. So....."

Plans are being made throughout the Washington Conference Sabbath schools to give the largest Thirteenth Sabbath offering at Christmas time that has ever been given. As we think of giving at that season of the year, shall we not give our best offering to Jesus....

1959 - Abt 1964: Charles and Irma rented a place not too far from the LLUMC: 24616 Steward Street, Loma Linda, CA 92354.
Abt 1965: They bought a single family residence at 25436 Lane Street, Loma Linda, San Bernardino, California 92354, where they lived since about 1965, and Irma continued to live there after Charles died on 9-22-1972 until 1985. It had a very large back yard with a wonderful Naval orange tree and a delicious fig tree, raised hardwood floors, a floor heater vent the grandchildren had to be careful to maneuver around and it melted a grid-mark on the bottoms of many shoes, three small bedrooms, 1 & 3/4 bathrooms, kitchen, dining nook, and a single car garage. It was on a septic tank system.
[Note: Grandson Ted Ray Krohne bought this home and later rented then sold to his brother Scott Alan Krohne and sister-in-law Korrie Michelle Riter (Krohne) 4-18-2002.]

16 Aug 1968: San Bernardino Sun (CA) newspaper article:
Photo of Physical Therapist Lawrence Johnson teaching Charles Alvin Krohne to walk again in 1968:
"Loma Linda Medical Center Home Health
LOMA LINDA --Since first becoming a reality in april of 1967 after about two years of planning, the Loma Linda University Medical Center's comprehensive home health program has proven to be a success, according to LLU officials....."

In the 1970s Irma had a party telephone line. That is one where you share the line with a couple other homes, and while it just rings for you in your home at your number, sometimes when you pick up the phone to make a call you can hear the other households talking on the line and you have to wait until they are finished to make your own call. This worked really well for her because she didn't use the phone that often and when she did the calls were generally very short.

1 May 1973 excerpt from a letter from Rozella Jean Butka (Krohne):
"Aileen [Butka] came by today to pick up Kennys Mom - she is going to Darryls graduation in Tennessee & leaves "Mom" off in Texas to see her daughter Helen in Corpus Christi. ...Kenny's mom made Julie a darling dress sorta like this [drawing] (collar is flower pettles) white dress c/ pick collar & green stem & leaves [down front]."

Circa 1970s: Note: Julie Rozanne Krohne recalls being about age 5 - 8 and her Grandmother Irma Krohne practicing Bible stories on her using a large felt board and cutouts of the characters from the Bible, animals, etc. to illustrate. They were very enjoyable and sometimes she was allowed to help cut them out from the felt story sheets in preparation for Sabbath school lessons.

1970s-1989: Fingernail kit: Scissors, file, etc. [Note: Family memorabilia in the possession of granddaughter Julie Rozanne Krohne (Evans) in 2013 - dates I remember her having it.]

Three watches (one missing band): [Note: Family memorabilia in the possession of granddaughter Julie Rozanne Krohne (Evans) in 2013.]

1985: Irma sold her home in Loma Linda, San Bernardino County, California, and moved into a senior citizen complex at 24-000 Shadow Mountain Drive, #24, Palm Desert, Riverside County, California, 92260, near two of her daughters, Ev and Dolly (the latter who had moved there about when Irma did).

January 1985 her grandson, Ted Ray Krohne, purchased her old home (located just around the corner from her son's home, Kenneth Krohne (Ted's father), who bought in 1954), where she had lived for many years, at 25436 Lane Street, Loma Linda, CA 92354. Ted rented her home for ten years, then his brother and his wife, Scott Krohne, moved in to rent the home for many more years and eventually purchased it from him.

Health: Arthritis (severe in her hands when she died) and hypertension. [Alzheimer's Disease?]

11 Dec 1985 Irma suffered a slight stroke and was in the hospital until Feb 1986.
She then moved to [Loma] Linda Valley Care Center [Convalescent Hospital], just off of Benton St., 25383 Cole St., Loma Linda, San Bernardino County, California 92354.

Dec 1986: Except from daughter-in-law, Jean (Krohne)'s Christmas letter:
"Ken's mother is here in the Linda Valley Convalescent Hospital. She had a couple slight strokes and needs extra care now. So I see her every day and her children come visit her often."

Feb 1987: 74000 Shadow Mountain, #24, Palm Desert, Riverside County, CA 92260. (Envelope).
Moved here to be near her daughters Dolly & Ev. Stayed here in her own apartment by herself for many months.

"The Twenty-Third Psalm
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters,

paths of righteousness
for His name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of
the shadow of death, I will fear no evil:
for thou art with me; Thy rod and
thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the
presence of mine enemies: thou anointest
my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life: and I will
dwell in the house of the Lord forever."

While 1910 Census shows 0 children born--could be because Irma was adopted away.

===========

Please do not hesitate to write, even if you do not wish any special information.-The Season's Greetings to each and all, Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Her hands were always busy. For example, in 1958 she made 150 garments, made time to make quilts and do some crocheting. She had many cut out felt pictures from Bible stories which she would often use to illustrate a story she told her grandchildren. She always had time for her children and grandchildren.

So....."

"13th Sabbath Christmas Offering

He leadeth me beside the still waters,
He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the
paths of righteousness
for His name's sake.
