William came to Knox county in 1897. He was a charter member of the First Methodist Church of Goree, TX. At his death, he was the last member of the original townsite. He was president of the First National Bank of Goree. He donated land for the Goree townsite and for a portion of the Goree Cemetery. He died from a cerberal Hemorrhage at the Knox County Hospital
