"SARAH REDFORD, 1695, AND ELIZABETH FROST, 1696, POINT OF GRAVES, PORTSMOUTH. William Mumford, a Quaker of Boston, carved this double gravestone. The women were sisters, the daughter of Major Charles Frost. Sarah married William Redford, a distinguished man who served as a provincial secretary. Major Frost was equally distinguished. He served as a sergeant-major for all of Maine from 1682 to 1688, and as a judge of the Common Pleas Court. He died on July 4, 1697, as a result of an 'Indian' ambush on his way home from meeting."

Sarah married William Redford as her third husband, John Shipway and John Sapp being first and second. Her birth date is 27 Dec 1666. Her sister Elizabeth was born 4 Jul 1683/4. Both sisters were born in Kittery, York, Maine.
