Josephine C. Cournia, 77, of 3478 E. Armour, Cudhay, a former Sheboygan resident, died Tuesday morning at the Park Manor Nursing Home in Milwaukee, where she had been a resident for a year and a half.
The former Josephine Green was born Jan. 11, 1899 in Osage, Iowa, a daughter of Anton and Lena Green. She attended school in Iowa and in Crookston, Minn.
On April 7, 1920, she married Roland Cournia at New Haven, Iowa. They moved to Sheboygan in 1924 and in 1943 the couple moved to Milwaukee.
She is survived by her husband; two sons, Anton of Milwaukee and Edmund of Van Nuys, Cal.; one daughter, Mrs. Norman (Delores) Jones of Glendale; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother Ralph Green of Sheboygan, and two sisters, Kathryn (Raymond) Herriot of Sheboygan and Marie (William) Baumann of Renton, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, with Father David Braun, administrator, as celebrant. Mass will follow family rites at the Ramm-Ziegler Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 4:30 p.m. Thursday until time of services Friday. A parish Bible wake will be held at the funeral home at 7 Thursday night.
A memorial fund has been established in Mrs. Cournia's name.
