==================================================

She was a member of the Maud Primitive Baptist Church, for many years.

==================================================

Mam-ma, (as we called her) had a large family, periodically, she would travel to a central location, and her grandchildren would come to that location. She loved sowing and would make beautiful blankets and other items, and made sure each family received one of her home made items. She made a quilt for my family, on one visit, that we keep in the family, many years, after her passing.

==================================================

She loved putting puzzles together, I mean the 1000+ type, it always amazed me that in her advanced years that she could put these puzzles together so easily. I believe this speaks to her sharpness and longevity.

==================================================

Mamma and Papa, raised a large family, we had our reunions, even, after their passing.

We would travel back to Texas to visit, now and then, many stories abound around these visits. After their passing, the family continued the reunions, and gatherings. What a great generation they were...

She loved her families, traveled to visit, and we would travel back to visit and surprise her, but she was use to this, as she had over 104 grands/great/great-great, grand children, and one on the way, when she passed away. Some of them would just show up to visit her... as she relayed to me, on one of my visits. And then she would have them explain, how they were related to the family. Some of her children were still living near her home, and were with her, at her bed side, when she passed away.

==================================================

Emma's Foster Grandfather died in the Civil War (CSA). William Foster, 1823-1865. Served; Pvt Co K 28th Alabama Regiment, and also in the Co G 8th Alabama, he was wounded at battle at Stone River TN, and killed possible at Centerville Alabama toward the end of the War. William was the oldest son, his 3 younger brothers were also killed in the war, and 2 of his 3 brother-in-laws.

==================================================

Emma's family originated (as far as we know) from Spartanburg Co SC, in the same area as the White side did, they lived 1st next door to Spartanburg in Union Co SC and also in Spartanburg Co SC. Strangely, the Foster and White's were living very close to each other in Spartanburg Co SC, whether they knew each other is not known. Elias White moved from SC to Bowie Co TX, in 1846, the Foster's took a different route to Alabama to Bowie Co TX, in the 1870's. The White's have a very long history in Bowie Co TX. Emma's husband Newton 'Newt', is descended from Elias White.
