Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Holt Giddens, 88, died Friday evening (July 15, 2011) at Satilla Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.
She was a native of Ware County where she lived most of her life. She was a retired school teacher who taught at Manor, Waresboro and Wacona Schools for more than 30 years. She was a member of Hebardville United Methodist Church.
She is the daughter of the late Martin Holt and Gladys Farr Holt. She is preceded in death by her husband, Clem Hardy Giddens; two sons, Benjamin Leon Giddens and Bruce Elliott Giddens; one granddaughter, Rachael Tamara Giddens; and two brothers, Robert and Henry Holt.
Survivors include one son, David Giddens (wife Tamara) of Baxley; three grandchildren, Jennifer Giddens, Greg Giddens (wife Crystal), and Jake Giddens; three great grandchildren, Marah, Ben and Henry Giddens; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday (July 18, 2011) at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends the hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
