Henry O. Peters of Cayuga, who had been in poor health for several years, died at 4:30 o'clock yesterday morning, December 30, 1902. The deceased was born in Circleville, OH, in 1851, and settled in this county in 1870. He was 51 years of age. He clerked in a dry goods store for many years for William L. Naylor of Eugene when he first came to this county. He afterwards owned a large store in Eugene which he conducted for many years. He has always been an active businessman. He was twice elected Treasurer of this county, and once a Trustee of Eugene Township.

He had twice been married. His first wife was Miss Nora Iles of Eugene, who died several years ago. A daughter was born to them who has died since the death of her mother. He was married to Miss Mayme Montgomery of Eugene Township, August 7, 1901, who, with one child, survives him. HIs father, Newton Peters, and 3 brothers, Jacob C., John L., and Daniel are still living. HIs mother died 2 or 3 years ago. He was a member of the Odd Fellows and Knights of Pythias. He carried between 10 and 15 thousand dollars life insurance, the most of which is made payable to his brother Jake for advancements made to pay his creditors. His funeral will occur at 2 o'clock this (Wednesday) afternoon, and will be in charge of the Odd Fellows. His remains will be interred in the Iles Cemetery, north of Eugene.
