Sarah Carter Mitchel is buried in Waxahatche, Ellis County, Texas. On of her great great grandsons told me in 2003 that John Davis or Davers Mitchell was killed by the KKK in 1878. I was told that he was an anti-secessionist who hid in caves during the day and tended his fields at night. After his death she and her children moved to Anniston Alabama. I will post the pic of them in front of an amazing log dog trot cabin with her sons about her. She is in widow's clothing. My grandmother is the little girl. My great grandmother is in the chair and my great grandfather stands behind her: Ezekiel, and Susan Mitchell and Mary Savannah Mitchell
