Age 85, of David, died Wednesday, April 7, 1999, at Highlands Regional Medical Center, Prestonsburg, following an extended illness. Born February 8, 1914, at Middle Creek, he was the son of the late Harry and Della Stephens Hackworth. He was a former coal miner, last worked for Princess Elkhorn Coal Company at David. He was a member of the Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Amett Hackworth, on January 11, 1996. Survivors include one son, Larry Hackworth of Chelsea, Michigan; one daughter, Jo Ann Lyon of David; three brothers, Jerry Hackworth of Prestonsburg, Ballard Hackworth and Gordon Hackworth, both of Warsaw, Indiana; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 10, at 1 p.m., at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Ed Taylor officiating. Burial will be in the Arnett Family Cemetery at Howard Branch, Salyersville.
