Walter M. Eardley, 79, died of causes incident to age in the hospital where he had been confined the past week.
He was born May 3, 1883, at Almy, Wyo., a son of Josiah and Franey Robison Eardley, the youngest of 10 children. While he was still a boy, the family moved to Lyman, near Fort Bridger, Wyo., where he grew up.
Mr. Eardley first worked in the offices of the Union Pacific Railroad at Green River, Wyo. One of his co-workers was William Jeffers, who later became president of the railroad.
Mr. Eardley attended barber college in Denver, Colo., and opened his first barbershop at Rock Springs, Wyo.
He was married Aug 20, 1906 to Clara Minnie Ace at Salt Lake City. They came to Idaho Falls in 1924 where they established a home.
Mr. Eardley operated barbershops on Broadway in both the old Eleanor Hotel and Rio Theatre buildings. He sold his shop and retired several years ago.
In addition to his widow, he is survived by six daughters, Mrs. Glenn (Blanche) Pratt, Firth; Mrs. Cleveland F. (Elanore) Swanson, Idaho Falls; Mrs. Hampton (Vera) Trayner, Spokane, Wash.; Mrs. Oscar (Marjorie) Juner, Pacitica, Calif.; Mrs. H. E. (Claramay) Russell, San Francisco, Calif., and Mrs. Don (Billie) Fisher, Seattle, Wash., and one son, Walter M. Eardle, Jr. Clarkston, Wash. Twenty grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren also survive.
