JOHN WELLS OF EATON, COLORADO

John Oliver Wells was born on September 12, 1871, in Moniteau County, Missouri to Curt and Elmira Wells. When he was 18 years old he moved with his family to Clinton, Henry County, Missouri, where he met and married Eveline V. Ward in January of 1895.
John farmed in Missouri before relocating to Eaton, Weld County, Colorado in April of 1910. He engaged in the transfer business for 30 years here before retiring last October due to his health. At that time, he returned to Clinton, Mo., hoping to recover. However, he returned to Eaton within three weeks and was confined to his bed until he died. He passed away at his home, at 1:40 p.m. on Monday, February, 17, 1941.
John was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Clinton, Mo., having joined the church in 1904. He was also a member of the Odd Fellows.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Eva Wells, and five children: Mrs. Mabel McGinness, Paul E. Wells, and Mrs. Marie Brandenberg of Greeley, Howard Wells of Denver, and Mrs. Thelma Wellman of Eaton; and eight grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Mr. Ed I. Wells of Clinton, Mo., a sister, Mrs. Julia Thomas of Windsor, Mo.; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Jim Wells of Eaton.
