Death of an Old Citizen.
On yesterday morning, Mr. J.M. Sexton died at the residence of his son-in-law, J.S. Chick, Esq. The deceased was known to many in this city, being one of its pioneer citizens, but since the war he has resided on a farm near Lee's Summit.
He was on the sick list himself when the news of the serious illness of his daughter, Mrs. E.R. Threlkeld, came to him. He at once arose and hastened to Kansas City, only to find his daughter enshrouded before him. The shock was too great for him and after lingering for a few days, he succumbed to that which awaits us all. The funeral takes place from the residence of Mr. Chick at ten o'clock this morning.
