Lewisburg, Pennsylvania: John Plant was born in England the son of George and Maria Plant. His mother, now in her 88th year, still lives in Hightstown, New Jersey. He came to this country when he was only 3 years old. When he was only 12 years old, he worked in the potteries at Trenton after the untimely death of his father. He attended the Peddie School in 1901 and became an outstanding football and basketball player. John D. Plant "The Old Roman" who was a member of the North Philadelphia professional basketball team and Bristol National Leagues Champion 1901-1902. In 1907, he returned to the Peddie School and was director of physical education and in 1926 came to Bucknell University. Plant is a prominent citizen of Lewisburg. He is a member of the Masons, the Odd fellows, the Rotary Club and the Druids. He is a faithful member of the Baptist Church. He married Mrs. M.E. Farrington 15 years ago.
